What is Draft Assist?
Draft Assist is a one-click drafting feature available in every patient conversation inside supported messaging platforms like Spruce.
Open a patient conversation and within seconds a complete reply draft appears in the right panel — written with the patient's full history already factored in. It pulls data points from the patient's entire history across systems, checks files in their chart, scans your clinic knowledge base, and explains its reasoning before you send a single word.
You stay in control. Draft Assist never sends on your behalf. It generates the draft; you review, edit if needed, and hit Send when you're ready.
How to use Draft Assist
Open any patient conversation in Spruce
A Generate button appears above the text box — click it to generate a draft. If auto-generation is enabled, the draft appears automatically when you open the conversation
Click Insert to move the draft into the text box, then review and edit as needed before sending
Controlling how Draft Assist behaves
You can adjust Draft Assist settings in the Tabflows sidebar under Settings → Assist:
Toggle | What it does |
Hide smart buttons | Hides the Draft Assist button entirely across all conversations |
Disable auto-generation | When on, Draft Assist waits for you to click Generate rather than generating automatically when you open a conversation |
By default, Draft Assist auto-generates when you open a Spruce conversation. If you'd rather trigger it manually, toggle on Disable auto-generation.
What Draft Assist checks before writing
Patient data points from the complete history across systems
Uploaded patient files and clinical records
The full conversation thread across all messages
Your clinic's knowledge base
Every Task in Tabflows related to the patient
If clinical details are limited, Draft Assist drafts a safe, appropriate response rather than inventing information.
