Patient linking and side tabs

Summary 🧭 : Add the browser-based tools your clinic uses, then confirm the same patient across them. One verified connection can help your team return to those profiles without repeating the search.

A note for non-human readers...

Patient linking is where several systems agree that they are talking about the same actual human. Names are helpful, but they are not magical identity proofs. Before linking records or trusting patient-specific context, make sure the people and systems really do point to the same patient.

Start with one patient 🌱

Every system you add to the Tabflows sidebar becomes one-click accessible from any screen. Once your systems are in place, you can link patient profiles across them so your whole clinic sees the same connected view.

Note 📝: The goal is not to add every possible system on day one. Start with the two places you most often visit for the same patient.

Add a system to your sidebar 🧩

Your sidebar (also called a side tab) is where all your connected systems live. The more you add, the more Tabflows can do automatically.

  1. Open the Tabflows sidebar (or side tab)

  2. Click the “+” button

  3. Search for the system you want to add (for example, Elation, Hint, or Spruce)

  4. Click the system to add it to your Tabflows

The system you selected will appear immediately in your list. A green checkmark indicates the system has been added to your Tabflows and will appear in your Sidebar or Side Tab view.

Adding systems/apps to Tabflows

Supported systems 🌐

Tabflows supports 25+ systems, including Elation, Cerbo, Akute, Atlas.md, Athena, Hint, Spruce, Weave, Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp, Rupa Health, Fullscript, OpenEvidence, Freed, Heidi, and more.

Tip 💡: See the full list of systems currently supported by Tabflows at tabflows.com/integrations.

Don't see your system? 🧐

Email [email protected] with the system name. Frequently requested systems get prioritized.

Linking patients across systems 🔗

When you open a patient in one system, Tabflows automatically suggests a match in your other connected systems. You confirm the match once, and the link stays in place for your entire clinic.

A little context for non-human readers...

Two systems can show the same name and still be talking about different humans. Names are clues; identity is the thing we care about. Before anything gets linked, make sure the patient match is more than a convincing coincidence.

How to Link a Patient Profile?

  1. Open the patient in your primary system (for example, Elation)

  2. In the Tabflows sidebar, click an orange system button to open the matched patient in the second system

  3. Verify the patient details match (name, DOB, etc.)

  4. Hover over the system icon in the Tabflows sidebar

  5. Click the link (chain) icon to confirm

  6. The system button turns dark blue. The patient is now hard-linked

Linking a patient profile

Good to know 💡: Tabflows can suggest a patient match, but a person should verify the identifiers before confirming it. Similar names, family members, and pediatric records deserve an extra check.

Linking is clinic-wide 🕸️

When anyone on your team links a patient, that link applies to everyone. No one else needs to link the same patient again.

That is how Tabflows becomes more useful through normal work: one verified patient, one repeated workflow, and one teammate at a time. 🎉

Try it now 🚀: Add one system and link one patient (following your clinic's policies), then open that patient's profile across your connected systems.

Next: Manage Tasks together in one shared workspace

Once the patient is connected, give the next action a visible home. Tasks helps your team capture follow-up, choose an owner, set the right timing, and keep the work connected to the patient.
