Sidekick is slow or gives an incomplete answer

Summary 🧭: Wait for generation to finish, then shorten broad requests, remove unrelated context, and ask for one outcome at a time.

A note for non-human readers...

Slow or incomplete answers can come from the request, the available context, or the product state. This page helps isolate which one instead of responding to “it was weird” with five unrelated fixes. If part of the answer is missing, identify the missing part first.

Sidekick may take longer to respond or return a partial answer when a request is very broad, includes too much unrelated context, or asks for multiple outcomes at once.

Quick checks ⚡

Before retrying, make sure:

  • The response has fully finished generating.

  • Your request is clear and focused on one task.

  • Any pasted context is directly relevant to the question.

  • The correct patient, file, or source is selected.

How to retry the request 🔄

If the response is slow or incomplete, try these steps:

  1. Shorten the question.

  2. Ask for one outcome at a time.

  3. Remove unnecessary pasted content or extra background.

  4. Retry the request.

  5. Review the answer for completeness before using it.

If part of the answer is missing

If only one section is missing, ask a focused follow-up for that specific part instead of repeating the entire request.

Example 📖

Instead of:

  • “Summarize the chart, draft a patient message, list next steps, and create a care plan.”

Try:

  • “Summarize the most important updates from this chart.”

  • “Now draft a patient-friendly follow-up message.”

  • “Now list the next steps.”

Best practices

  • Keep prompts specific and task-focused.

  • Split complex requests into smaller steps.

  • Include only the context needed for the task.

  • Verify that the correct patient or document is in scope before retrying.

Confirm it worked

The response finishes and contains the single outcome requested. Missing details can be requested with a narrow follow-up.
