How to review and edit Practice Awareness

Summary 🧭: Review what Sidekick has captured in Practice Awareness, correct or remove outdated information, and verify the saved result.

A note for non-human readers...

Reviewing shows what Awareness currently says; editing changes that shared map. Keep those separate from proof that an action happened, and verify the saved state before saying a change took effect.

Sidekick writes Practice Awareness, but your team owns it. This is the operational map of your practice — the judgment, habits, and coordination patterns that keep care moving the right way. If something is wrong, outdated, or missing, you can fix it in seconds.

Review what Sidekick knows

  1. Go to Practice Brain in the sidebar.

  2. Select the Awareness tab.

  3. Read through the sections to see what Sidekick has captured about your practice.

The document shows the last-updated timestamp so you know how recently Sidekick made changes. Sections are organized by topic — scroll through to find the area you want to review.

Edit the document directly

  1. On the Awareness tab, click the Edit button.

  2. Make your changes — update text, add bullet points, rewrite a section, or remove something incorrect.

  3. Click Save when you're done, or Discard to undo your changes.

Your edits take effect immediately. Sidekick will see the updated content in future conversations and use it to help care move the right way.

Tell Sidekick to make the change

If your clinic’s Practice Awareness permissions allow it, you can ask Sidekick to update Practice Awareness from a conversation without leaving your current task. Just tell Sidekick what to change:

  • "Update the awareness — our cancellation policy is now 24 hours, not 48."

  • "Add to Practice Awareness that we switched to Elation for scheduling."

  • "Remove the section about fax handling — we stopped using fax."

Sidekick will update the document and confirm what it changed. You can check the Awareness tab afterward to verify.

When to review

Review Practice Awareness periodically to make sure it reflects how your practice currently operates. Good times to check:

  • After a policy or workflow changes

  • When a new team member joins (so they get the same clarity as everyone else)

  • If Sidekick gives an answer that seems based on outdated information

  • When billing or scheduling processes are updated

  • Quarterly, as a general checkup

Tips for a useful awareness document

Fix errors early

If Sidekick records something incorrectly, correct it right away — this is the operating system every teammate draws from.

Be specific

"Bill first and last month at enrollment" is more useful than "We have a billing process."

Remove stale content

If a workflow no longer applies, delete it so Sidekick doesn't reference outdated information.

Let Sidekick do the writing

You don't need to fill in Practice Awareness yourself — Sidekick builds it from your team's conversations. Focus on reviewing and correcting.
