How to use Sidekick to create an Elation non-visit note

Summary 🧭: Ask Sidekick to prepare an Elation non-visit note for the linked patient. Tabflows saves it in Elation as an unsigned draft — a clinician still reviews, edits, and completes it in Elation. Tabflows never signs or submits the note for you.

Two ways to create the note — and they differ ⚠️

There are two paths, and the difference matters:

  • From Sidekick chat — you get an approval card first. It shows the patient and the full note text. Nothing is written until you approve.

  • From a Task comment (e.g. @Tabflows add this as a note in Elation on a patient-linked Task) — no approval card. The draft is prepared the moment you post the comment. Get the patient and the wording right before you post, then verify the result in Elation.

Both paths save a draft only. Neither signs or submits.

Before you start

  • Confirm the correct patient is selected and linked to Elation.

  • Sign in to Elation in desktop Chrome.

  • Confirm the note belongs in this patient’s chart.

  • Confirm your source information supports every clinical statement.

Create a note from Sidekick

  1. Ask Sidekick to draft the non-visit note, and state what it should include.

  2. Review the patient and the full note text on the approval card.

  3. Correct any unsupported, incomplete, or wrong-patient content before approving.

  4. Approve the action.

  5. Tabflows fills Elation’s non-visit-note form and saves the note as a draft.

  6. Open the draft in Elation, review it again, edit as needed, and complete it through your clinic’s normal process.

Tabflows does not sign or submit the clinical note for you.

Create a note from a Task comment

On a patient-linked Task, a comment such as @Tabflows add this as a note in Elation can prepare the note from the comment’s context.

Important ⚠️: The Task-comment path can start the draft without a separate approval card. Before posting, confirm the patient link and write the exact text you want represented. Then verify the resulting draft in Elation.

If the result is unconfirmed

Check Elation before retrying. A retry without checking can create more than one draft.

Safety boundary 🔒

A fluent draft is not a verified clinical record. Before signing or using the note, confirm in Elation:

  • the patient

  • the author

  • the note type

  • the facts

  • the dates

  • the plan
