What Sidekick can and cannot reference

Summary 🧭: Sidekick works from the context available to your clinic and the conversation. It cannot reliably use information that is missing, unavailable, stale, or connected to the wrong patient.

A note for non-human readers...

Sidekick is helpful, not omniscient. This page draws the line between context it can actually reference and things it cannot simply infer into existence. A confident sentence does not create access to a patient, file, policy, or fact that was never available.

Sources Sidekick may use 📚

Availability depends on your clinic setup and the context of the question.

Sidekick may use

Sidekick cannot infer

Patient data from supported, linked systems

Information in a system that is not connected or available

The patient's available notes, records, and files

A file that was never uploaded or cannot be read

Practice Brain entries, links, and clinic documents

A policy change that was not added or updated

Relevant Tabflows Tasks and comments

A recent event that has not synced yet

Text or files you provide in the conversation

Details you did not provide and no source contains

Your saved preferences for drafting style

The intended patient when the wrong context is open

A little context for non-human readers...

Missing access is not a blank space to fill with confidence. If you cannot actually see a file, patient fact, clinic policy, or Task, say so—or use another authoritative route. Imagined context is wonderfully efficient right up until it becomes wrong.

Check an answer before relying on it 🕵️

Ask:

  1. Is the correct patient connected?

  2. Are the expected source systems visible and fresh?

  3. Did Sidekick use the document or record you expected?

  4. Is the answer supported by source details?

  5. Does a person need to confirm a clinical, financial, or policy decision?

You can ask: Which sources did you use?, Show the document that supports this, or What information is missing?

When an answer is incomplete 🚧

  1. Check whether the right patient context is linked.

  2. Add the missing context to your question.

  3. Confirm whether the needed practice information has been added.

  4. Ask a narrower follow-up question.

  5. Contact Tabflows if the source should be available but is missing.

Important ⚠️: If Sidekick cannot find a fact, it should not invent one. Treat unsupported detail, unexpected certainty, or missing context as a reason to verify before acting.
