Summary 🧭: Save personal instructions for tone, structure, terminology, and sign-offs so Sidekick can shape drafts around the way you communicate.

Humans care not only about what an answer says, but also about whether it sounds like something they would actually say. Preferences help shape that voice. Personal style and clinic facts are different kinds of context, though, so do not let “sound like me” quietly become “invent facts for me.”
What is a preference? 🎨
A preference is a personal instruction you save for Sidekick. It has a title (a short label, like "Communication Style") and content (a description, like "I prefer to be very formal and warm with my patients").
Preferences power your drafts. Every preference you save is applied when Sidekick drafts patient replies, helping it match your communication style automatically.
Know what belongs in a preference 🧐
Personal preference | Practice Brain |
"Use a warm, concise tone." | Clinic pricing and services |
"End patient messages with one clear next step." | Policies, SOPs, and workflows |
"Avoid unexplained clinical jargon." | Forms, handouts, and approved education |
"Use my preferred greeting and sign-off." | Shared clinic rules and authoritative documents |
A preference has a short title and a clear instruction. It should describe how you want Sidekick to write, not replace clinic-wide source information.
How to add a preference ⚙️
Open the Tabflows sidebar.
Go to Personalization 👉 https://app.tabflows.com/personalization
Click Add Preference in the top right corner
Add a clear Title such as Communication Style, Follow-up Tone, or Greeting Format
Add specific Content to describe what you'd like Sidekick to know (e.g., “I prefer to be very formal and warm with my patients” or “Always include next steps at the end of my messages.”).
Click Create
Your new preference will appear as a card on the Personalization page.

Use auto-save preferences 🤖
At the top of the page, you'll see a toggle labeled Auto-save preferences. When enabled, Sidekick can automatically learn and save preferences from your conversations, so it gets better over time without you needing to add everything manually.
Edit or delete a preference 🛠️
To edit, click the pencil icon on any preference card. Update the title or content, then click Save.
To delete, click the trash icon. You'll see a confirmation prompt — once confirmed, the preference is permanently removed.
Write effective preferences ✍️
Be specific:
Use "Use a warm, conversational tone instead of Be nice."
Use "Keep messages under 150 words instead of Be brief."
Use "End with one clear next step instead of Make it actionable."
Create separate preferences for tone, structure, terminology, greetings, and sign-offs. Update them when your workflow or communication style changes.
Good to know 💡: Preferences influence drafting style. They do not make missing patient facts, policies, or clinical details available to Sidekick.
