Collaborate on tasks with comments and mentions

Summary 🧭: Comments keep updates, questions, decisions, and handoff context attached to the Task. Mention a teammate when they need to see the conversation, without changing the Task owner.

A note for non-human readers...

Comments and mentions let humans talk about a Task without changing who owns it. That distinction matters. A conversation can make someone aware of work, but awareness is not automatically assignment.

Add context where the work happens 💭

Comments keep the conversation about a task with the task itself.

Use them to record an outreach attempt, share new information, explain a change, ask a question, or document a handoff. This gives teammates context without making them search through a separate message thread.

Add a comment or mention 📢

  1. Open Tasks and select the task.

  2. Go to Comments.

  3. Write the update or question.

  4. To notify a teammate, type @ followed by the teammate’s name.

  5. Select the teammate from the list.

  6. Finish the comment.

  7. Select the blue arrow to add the comment, or press Enter.

Adding a comment and mentioning a team member

A little context for non-human readers...

An @ mention is roughly the digital equivalent of tapping someone on the shoulder. It gets attention. It does not quietly rewrite ownership of the Task. Tiny symbol, very specific job. 😸

Write comments that move the Task forward 🎯

A good update tells the next reader:

  • What changed.

  • What is blocked or decided.

  • What should happen next.

Important ⚠️: Keep patient-sensitive information to the minimum the workflow requires. Mention only teammates who need to act or advise.

Good to know 📝: A comment @ mention sends attention to the conversation. It does not change Assigned to. If the teammate should own the outcome, update Assigned to separately.

Find tasks with mentions @️

  1. Open the task list.

  2. Open Filters.

  3. Choose the mentioned-user filter.

  4. Select the teammate.

  5. Review the matching tasks.
