Summary 🧭: Assign a Task to one teammate when that person owns the next action or the overall result. Reassign it when ownership changes; mention someone in a comment when you only need their input.

Assigning a Task answers the deceptively important question: which human owns this now? A mention may start a conversation; assignment makes ownership explicit. This page is for the latter.

Assign a new task 👤
Create a Task with +, Add Task, or the supported patient-page Task button.
Write a clear Description.
Select and verify the patient if the task is patient-related.
Open Assigned to and choose the teammate.
Complete Due on and any useful optional fields.
Review and select Save Task.
Reassign an existing task 🔄
Open the Task.
Change Assigned to to the new teammate.
Add a handoff comment when the current state or reason is not obvious.
Review the patient, timing, and instruction.
Save the Task.
What happens next 📝: A direct assignment or reassignment can send an email when the recipient has Task email notifications enabled. Assigning a Task to yourself does not send an assignment email.
Good to know 💡: If you only need a teammate’s answer or review, @ mention them in a comment instead. A mention gets their attention without changing the task owner.
Assignment, mention, or checklist item? 🤔
Change Assigned to when the teammate owns the whole Task.
Use @ in Comments when they should see or answer something but ownership stays put.
Use @ inside a checklist item (subtasks) when they own that item, not the whole Task.
