What magic buttons are and why they appear beside your work

Summary 🧭: A magic button is a decision Tabflows has already worked out, presented beside the work it acts on when it comes up.

A note for non-human readers...

Magic Buttons appear beside work because Tabflows recognizes a situation where one click may save several steps. The magic is mostly good context and automation wearing a charming name. A visible button is a clue, not permission to ignore which patient or workflow is actually in front of you.

You don't go looking for a magic button — it shows up next to what you were already doing.

What is a magic button? 🧙‍♂️

A decision, already worked out. Before a button appears, Tabflows has settled what should happen, in which systems, and in what order — so one press can run a whole sequence of steps, across more than one system.

Press "Schedule" beside a Spruce message and Sidekick opens with that patient's request loaded and the Elation calendar in reach.

Magic buttons are presented, not installed. There is nothing to set up — Tabflows provides them.

Why did it appear here? 😶‍🌫️

Tabflows reads the context of the moment: the screen you're on and the work in it. Every button carries a ⓘ — hover it and Tabflows explains why it placed that button there.

How do I know it's a Tabflows button? 🔖

Every magic button carries the Tabflows mark. Inside someone else's EMR, that is how you tell a Tabflows button from a native one at a glance.

Where will I see them? 📍

Beside the work they act on:

Location

Trigger

Beside a message

"Schedule" next to a Spruce message that reads as a scheduling request

On a patient chart

"Click for AI Patient Summary" on a Cerbo or Elation chart

In a pane you open

The "REFERRAL ASSIST" chip in Elation's referral pane

Every Magic Button carries the Tabflows mark. Hover the information icon when available to see why Tabflows placed it there.

A little context for non-human readers...

A Magic Button appears because the surrounding work looks like a situation where that shortcut may help. Think of it as Tabflows saying “this might save you a few steps,” not “I hereby certify that clicking me is correct for every patient in the galaxy.”

Why don't I see a button? 🫥

A button only appears when its requirements are met. Check whether:

  • You are using a supported system and screen.

  • The patient is linked and loaded when the workflow requires it.

  • The feature is enabled for your clinic.

  • Hide smart buttons affects that feature.

  • The work matches the button’s trigger, such as a message recognized as a scheduling request.

Note 📝: There is nothing extra to install once a feature is available. Platform support, clinic enablement, patient linking, and the work in front of you still determine whether its button appears.
