Use Tabflows Mobile safely with patient information

Summary 🧭: Confirm the patient, protect the device, minimize exposed information, and review Sidekick's output before using it for care or operations.

A note for non-human readers...

Phones are wonderfully portable. Patient information is also wonderfully portable once it is on a phone, which is exactly why this page is serious about device locks, minimum-necessary attachments, patient verification, and reviewing output before use. Convenience should reduce steps—not the care used around PHI.

Before you start 🔒

  • Use a phone protected by a passcode, Face ID, fingerprint, or another approved lock.

  • Keep the phone's operating system and browser updated.

  • Follow your clinic's mobile-device and patient-information policies.

  • Avoid using a shared or public device for patient work.

  • Use a trusted internet connection.

Confirm the patient every time 🕵️

Before asking a patient-specific question, verify:

  • The selected patient is correct.

  • The question belongs to that patient.

  • The file or photo belongs to that patient.

  • Dates and source details match what you intend to review.

Recheck the patient after opening an old conversation or switching between patients.

Attach only what is needed

Before uploading a photo, screenshot, or file:

  • Crop out unrelated information when appropriate.

  • Confirm the image is readable.

  • Check that no other patient's information is visible.

  • Remove the attachment if you selected the wrong file.

Important ⚠️: Automatic capture of the active EHR page is not available on mobile. Any screenshot you attach is one you selected manually.

Review every answer

Before you copy, send, chart, or act on Sidekick's output, check:

  • Is the patient context correct?

  • Is the source available and current?

  • Are any details missing or uncertain?

  • Do names, dates, medications, doses, and numbers match the source?

  • Does the wording fit the intended audience?

  • Does the next step require clinical review?

Sidekick supports your work. It does not replace clinical judgment or final verification.

Protect the screen in public spaces

Be aware of who can see your phone. Lock the screen when you step away. Avoid leaving patient information visible in app switchers, notifications, screenshots, or photo libraries longer than your clinic's policy allows.

When you are finished

  • Close patient-specific files and images.

  • Lock the phone.

  • Sign out if the device is shared or your clinic requires it.

  • Complete extension-dependent work later from an approved desktop browser.
