How to use Sidekick to generate PDF, Word, or CSV documents

Summary 🧭: Ask Sidekick to turn information from your conversation into a downloadable PDF, Word document, or CSV file. Sidekick builds a draft file for you to review — it doesn’t file it to a chart or send it anywhere.

Choose the right format

  • PDF — best for a finished-looking document that’s easy to share or print.

  • Word (DOCX) — best when you need to edit the document after generating it.

  • CSV — best for rows of data you want to review in a spreadsheet or import elsewhere.

If you don’t specify a format, Sidekick creates a PDF. PDF and Word files use your clinic’s configured branding (header and footer). CSV files contain the requested data without document branding.

Generate a document

  1. Open Sidekick in the conversation that contains the information you want to use.

  2. Ask for the document, and include its purpose, recipient, and format. For example: “Create a Word referral summary for the cardiologist using this conversation.”

  3. Answer any follow-up question — Sidekick asks about the recipient or writing perspective when it isn’t clear.

  4. Wait for Sidekick to build the file.

  5. Download the file from the conversation.

  6. Review names, dates, clinical details, formatting, and any calculations before you share or use it.

What the action does not do

Generating a document creates a file only. It does not add the file to a patient chart, send it to a recipient, or replace clinical review. There’s no approval card — the file arrives in the chat as a draft, and reviewing it is your step.

If generation fails

  • Add the missing context or source information and try again.

  • State the recipient and format explicitly.

  • For CSV, describe the columns and rows you need.

  • If a file is incomplete, ask Sidekick to regenerate it with the missing details.
